Co-ordination and management
The BEE DOC will be managed similar to an EU wide health care centre for apiculture. The partners are grouped in four different departments (diagnosis, treatment, prevention and extension) according to their expertise but work together in a cross-cutting fashion in the eight work packages. This structure has proven to be extremely efficient for past composite networks in apidology. Apart from generating corporate identity within the departments, the department heads can more easily consolidate the results from the various work packages from the specific departmental point of view.
The BEE DOC partners will meet biannually in spring and in autumn to concert their research activities. The spring meeting will be used to discuss and (modify if needed) the work plan. The autumn meeting will be in association with a large conference to present results from the BEE DOC. The detailed management structures are described in detail in Section 2.
